Anolon 52588 Advanced 15-Piece Knife Set with Block Review by Abby Anderson
Probably one of the biggest problems when buying a new knife set is looking something that’s reliable but not too expensive at the same time. I mean, we only used to have two choices when buying knife sets, we either get the expensive high-end type (if we want to be sure that they’re really sharp and would last for ages) or we can settle with the not-so-expensive-yet-you-have-to-sharpen-them-every-other-day type.
Compared to a decade or two ago, people of today are so lucky in terms of knife sets. No longer do we have to choose between an expensive or bad-performing knives, because sharp knives actually now comes in reasonable prices – with the Anolon Advanced being one of them.
One of the things that people love about the knives in this set is that they’re actually sharp out of the box. If you’ve been through a couple of knives, you’d know that some knives needed a little sharpening even though you just took them out of the box.
The steak knives that come with this set have very sharp edges versus that serrated ones that other steak knives come with. This makes them easier to sharpen, plus they cut better when that flank steak was not quite as tender as you hoped.
While the blade plays a great role in the effectiveness of a knife, users need to look at the handle too. The quality of the handle determines how comfortable it is to use the knife, as well as the pressure of your grip when slicing or cutting. The Anolon knives come with ergonomically designed SureGrip santoprene handles to provide a soft yet confident grip.
Here’s a display of what we feel are the best knives right now:

Also includes 10-inch sharpening steel, 6 5-inch steak knives, and kitchen shears; full tang; ice-hardened stainless-steel blades
Ergonomically designed SureGrip Santoprene handles provide a soft yet confident grip
Housed in a handsome birch wood block
Hand wash with mild cleanser; lifetime warranty
Some people are not too happy with the rust spots that started appearing in some of the knives. I’ve been looking at knives for a long time and I know that this does not only happen with the Anolon Set. All knives needed to be taken care of, and wiping them dry right after washing is one way of doing this.
Overall, the people who bought this knife set is very happy with their purchase making this one of the highly recommended products in this site.

Are people happy when they puchased this set? Here’s what a customer has to say:
Have used many knife sets over the years, some more expensive than these. Was very pleased with how sharp they were out of the box. (I am used to sharpening knives immediately — before using — as factory efforts are never comparable to what we can, with care and the right tools, do at home.)

I received this knife block as a wedding gift and the knives are absolutely fantastic. They cut everything like it’s butter – with very little force required. I’ve never owned a high end set of knives but they make a huge difference. You will really notice if you are switching up from a much cheaper set of knives.

Wüsthof Gourmet 14-Piece Deluxe Knife Block Set Review by Abby Anderson
When we talk about knives, there are the really great but expensive sets, there are the average ones (both in price and performance) and there are the no good ones.
When choosing a set of knives, you have to base your decision on your budget and your needs. Sure, expensive chef knives are always a better choice but there’s no sense going for it if you’re just starting to learn how to cook and you can’t afford it in the first place.
For the average user, I suggest taking at look at the Wüsthof Gourmet 14-Piece Deluxe Knife Block Set. Wüsthof is a great name when it comes to knives. They have really great knives (which are super expensive, by the way) but they also got average knives for the average user.
What’s so great about the Wüsthof Gourmet 14-Piece Deluxe Knife Block Set? They’re sharp! While they’re not the kind to cut a piece of paper in half, they’re sharp enough for everyday use in the kitchen.
These knives are also light. Most expensive chef knives are heavy, which is good for some people but not for some. For instance, some chefs like them for professional use but they prefer the light ones for everyday slicing. When it comes to this, it really depends on one’s preference.
Here’s a display of what we feel are the best knives right now:
One of the things that surprised people about this knife is the emblem. The red emblem on the knives’ handles is actually stickers. One owner says he has been using his knives for over a year but the stickers are not showing any signs of coming off, although another owner advices using a Goo Gone on them and getting it over with. While this doesn’t affect the knives’ performance in any way, some people pay for the brand and want their products to show the manufacturer’s name. The logo is etched on the knives’ blades though, and this is good enough for some people.
TIP: Make sure you look at all of the various kitchen knives and read user feedback. The bestsellers are a great place to start looking. This utility knife is ONE bestseller. But if you’d rather see a whole list click here instead
There are some owners who said their knives got rusty a short time after they used it. When it comes to this, how you take care of your knives play a big part. These are carbon steel, and they rust when left soaked in water for a long time. These kinds of knives need to be hand-washed then wiped dry right after. When you take care of them, these knives will stay around for a long time.
These knives are not top of the line, but they are way better than your Walmart set. If you’re looking for a decent set of knives but are not willing to pay thousands of dollars for it, the Wüsthof Gourmet 14-Piece Deluxe Knife Block Set is the perfect option for you.
Wüsthof Gourmet 14-Piece Deluxe Knife Block Set Pros and Cons
Pros:
Holds up very well to daily usage
Razor sharp
Keeps their edge
Cons:
Emblems on the handles are actually stickers
Steel rusts if you let water sit on it
have water marks if you put in the dishwasher
Just how great is this knife set? Here’s what a customer has to say:
It has been a long time since I had a set of good, sharp knives. After reading reviews around the net I decided to try the Wusthof and am very impressed. These feel well balanced in my hand and the grip works well for me. I must say that it took a bit of getting used to having a knife this sharp again and they make me want to go out and cook more. Bottom line, a great set of knives at a very good price.

Chicago Cutlery 18-Piece Insignia Steel Knife Set with Block and In-Block Sharpener Review by Abby Anderson
Fact: spending a fortune is part of owning a good set of knives. It’s always been known that high-end knives cost a lot, and they are often your only choice if you want to make cutting and slicing as suave as possible. Well, not anymore.
Because of the demand for high-quality knives, more and more manufacturers are producing good knives with low prices – the Chicago Cutlery 18-Piece Insignia Steel Knife Set with Block and In-Block Sharpener being one of them.
Want the best price for the Chicago Cutlery 18-Piece Insignia Steel Knife Set with Block and In-Block Sharpener? Click on this link now!
Current owners have nothing but praises for the knives included in this set. Everybody loves how comfortable it is to hold the knives. The pieces in this set are made of high-carbon stainless steel forged blades with stainless steel handles. It makes the knives elegant, although the handles are way different from the ergonomic ones.
While the Chicago Cutlery 18-Piece Insignia Steel Knife Set doesn’t cost thousands of dollars like other knife brands, they are SHARP! This kind of sharpness is not something you’d expect in knives this affordable, but I don’t have to say that it comes as a wonderful surprise.
Here’s a display of what we feel are the best kitchen knives in the market right now:
Some people are not too happy with the fact that their Chicago knives are prone to water stains, but this problem is actually very easy to solve. Just dry the knives as soon as you finished washing them and you’d never see any waters marks again. Also, do not ever wash the knives using the dishwasher. It would ruin the knives and you’d never get to use them properly again.
So, would I recommend the Chicago Cutlery 18-Piece Insignia Steel Knife Set with Block and In-Block Sharpener? I definitely would. It’s the perfect product for people who want to make their life in the kitchen easier without having to spend a fortune on knives.
A customer has this to say about the Chicago Cutlery 18-Piece Insignia Steel Knife Set with Block and In-Block Sharpener:
On a lark when I saw this set, 18 piece Insignia Steel Knife Set, on the Deal of the Day (almost two years ago) I bought it for my husband for a Christmas gift. He’s gotten into cooking and I thought it would look nice setting out on the counter. I think it may have been his favorite gift and one we use constantly. The knifes stay very sharp – still haven’t needed sharpening two years later! We never put any of them in the dishwasher (per manufacturer instructions) and they have never needed polishing (other than hand drying) or any other care.

Victorinox 8-Piece Knife Block Set Review by Abby Anderson
A good set of knives is one of the most important tools in the kitchen. Choosing a set is not that easy, especially when you’re just starting out.
If you’re not sure which brand of knives to buy, you might want to take a look at the Victorinox 8-Piece Knife Block Set. Although Victorinox was made world-famous by the Swiss Army Knife, they were already into the cutlery business long before.
Why would beginners love these knives? One good reason is because they’re stamped. Stamped blades are cut into their shapes from cold-rolled pieces of steel before they’re ground, tempered and sharpened. This results in lighter, narrower blades. Although some chefs prefer the heavier and thicker forged blades, a lot of pros who spend their day cutting and slicing enjoy knives that are lighter and easier to cut with.
Since stamped blades are easier to produce, they are also a lot less expensive. While they come in a very affordable price though, the quality surpasses expectations.
Here’s a display of what we feel are the best kitchen knives in the market right now:
A lot of professionals prefer stamped knives because they are easier to slice with. They slide through fruits and vegetables, cutting slicing time in half. The Victorinox 8-Piece Knife Block Set is one of the best stamped knives in the market right now.
A lot of owners also love the fact that things don’t stick to the blade much. This is a common problem with cheap knives, and it can really slow you down. Another thing that owners love much about these knives is that they have very little “wedge effect”. Because of how sharp the blade is, the knife simply slides down when you cut things. You don’t push, which means carrots don’t fly off the chopping board.
Now, let me tell you that these knives are not for everybody. If you like a set that you could show off on your counter top, this set is not the best option for you. They were not designed to be pretty, but they were made to do what they ought to do – that is to make slicing and cutting easier for the user.
For the price and the quality of the knives, I highly recommend this product.
Victorinox 8-Piece Knife Block Set Pros and Cons
Pros:
High-carbon, no-stain-steel blades; full tang for strength and balance
Ergonomic black fibrox handles minimize wrist strain
Things don’t stick to the blade much.
Cons:
They don’t look as good as other kitchen knives
Here’s what a current owner has to say about the Victorinox 8-Piece Knife Block Set:
The blades are exceptionally shiny steel, very similar to Victorinox’s Swiss Army knife. Things don’t stick to the blade much. Like Swiss Army Knives, they also have a comparatively thin back and very little ‘wedge effect.’ This means when you cut things, they don’t fly across the room. You don’t push. The exquisitely sharp blade just kind of slips down through, leaving even carrots right where they were.

Wusthof Classic 6-Piece Steak Knife Set Review by Abby Anderson
What’s one of the first things that you need to look for in a steak knife? Is it how sharp the blade is? Or maybe how comfortable it is to handle the knife? While all these are correct, one of the most important things that you need to look at is the blade. Instead of the serrated ones, look for a knife with a smooth blade. While the serrations are supposed to keep the knives sharp, it actually rips through the meat instead of slicing it properly.
The Wusthof Classic 6-Piece Steak Knife Set is just an amazing set of knives. Although the blades are not serrated, they are very sharp that they cut meat evenly and smoothly. People even say the knives cut leathery steaks very evenly that you’d expect them to be tenderer than they really are.
One of the things that people love most about this set of knives is that they come with traditional-style composition handle which is triple-riveted for strength and performance. They don’t come with wood handles like a lot of cheap knives do. Aside from the fact that wooden handles can trap bacteria, you have to make sure that they don’t get wet or they’ll get discolored and start coming apart.
A lot of online stores sell the Wusthof Classic 6-Piece Steak Knife Set, but you can’t get them any cheaper than going here.
Some people say that due to a mistake in production, chunks of the handle started falling off their steak knives. Good thing that these knives come with a lifetime guarantee though, and they were given replacements of the knives free of charge and without any questions asked. Overall, they are still happy with the knives and say it’s great that the company honors their warranty.

While you may have to spend a little more money on the Wusthof Classic 6-Piece Steak Knife Set, the quality of the knives may it all worth it. The problem with buying an expensive set of knives is that you may have to replace one or two of them in the future and it would be hard to look for a matching replacement. Wusthof has been around for a long time and you’re assured that they will keep on making knives with little difference in design from the one you’ve got now. The knives Wusthof produces are so reliable that you can pass them down to your children, and it’s nice knowing that they wouldn’t have such a problem replacing one or two of them when the time comes.

Wusthof Classic 6-Piece Steak Knife Set’s Pros and Cons
Pros:
Forged high-carbon stainless-steel blades, hand-honed for razor-like sharpness
The edges are plain edged, honed by hand
Comfortable to hold
Cons:
Quite a bit expensive compared to other steak knives
This is what a current owner has to say:
When were were looking into the steak knives, we really couldn’t see the difference between the expensive version and the cheaper ones. We went on faith that the expensive ones really were better. We got them, and tried them on some filets. Huge difference from our old set. Then I went to visit my father and found he had the cheaper Wusthof steak knives. They too were better than the crappy ones we previously had, but there is a significant difference in quality and ability to cut between the two Wusthof choices. If you have the money, go for the more expensive set. You won’t regret it.

Global G-2 8-Inch 20cm Cook’s Knife Review by Abby Anderson
There are a couple of reasons why you should invest in a good knife and durability is only one aspect. Personally, I like a good knife because I hate (hate! hate!) having to put a lot of pressure on my hand when I cut something. I want my knife to just slide through the food – makes it easier and faster to do things for me.
The Global knives from Japan have rather created a sensation when they burst into the world of culinary. The company has presented their knives as alternative to European-style cutlery, and people actually loved them.
The Global G-2 8-Inch 20cm Cook’s Knife is one of the best products this company has. One of the things that I love most about it is that it’s lightweight. Whether you like heavy knives or the lightweight ones is up to you of course, and I should say this is the perfect knife if you prefer the latter.
The blade used for the G-2 is high-tech molybdenum/vanadium stainless steel. This allows the knife to be really, really sharp. To test, hold a piece of paper on one hand and the G-2 on the other. Slice the paper with the knife and you’d see just how sharp this is. The excellent choice of material used on the blade also allows the knife to retain its sharpness so you never have to sharpen it again.
I adore the stainless-steel handle, which is molded for comfort and dimpled for safe grip. Some people find it too contemporary, but it looks perfect with my kitchen design and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
TIP: Make sure you look at all of the various kitchen knives and read user feedback. The bestsellers are a great place to start looking. This utility knife is ONE bestseller. But if you’d rather see a whole list click here instead
Now, what’s one thing that you’d need to carefully look at when buying a knife? The warranty. This is one of the things which determine if the price is worth it or not. The Global G-2 8-Inch 20cm Cook’s Knife has LIFETIME warranty against defects and breakage. This makes the price well-worth it, although for the quality of the product I’d still buy it without this perk.
Let us look on the the reviews to know its pros and cons
Pros:
Readily gripped when wet and astoundingly sharp.
Easy to resharpen and hone. Stay sharp for long.
Perfect balance.
The blade of this knife is very thin and holds an edge better.
Cons:
Global knives are extremely light.
Handle is fairly small.
Let me show you what the current owner of this product has to say:
Customer review from Julian P Killingley,
I have been a keen amateur chef for more than 30 years. I was given a full set of Sabatier chef’s knives as a wedding present and have been using them since 1970. I had recently decided that 30+ years of sharpening had taken their toll on the Sabatiers and that new knives were called for – but what should I buy?
At heart I am a traditionalist and the appearance of the Global range had put me off them. Fortunately I recently read Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential and noted his ringing endorsement of the Global range. I decided to buy the 8-inch chef’s knife to see how I got on with it. I have never looked back!
Despite its rather unconventional look, the knife has excellent ergonomic design. It is well balanced, readily gripped when wet and astoundingly sharp. TMOT, you are unlikely ever to meet a sharper knife. Hold a sheet of paper from the top with one hand out in front of you and then cut downwards with the other – this knife readily cuts the paper without it being tensioned. That is what we mean by a sharp knife.

The knife is one of the most important tools in the kitchen. It cuts meat, fruits and vegetables, allowing cooking to be an easier experience (have you ever imagined life without knives?)
When it comes to knives, there are a lot of brands to choose from. Of course, the best ones are so expensive that you may need to spend at least a full month’s salary on one set.
I’ve had a couple sets of kitchen knives over the years, and I like the Chicago Cutlery Insignia2 18-Piece Knife Block Set for a couple of reasons.
First, I like the fact that it really is a complete set. Some knife sets claim to be complete but it doesn’t even include a bread knife. This set from Chicago Cutlery has a 3- and 3-1/2-inch parer, 5-inch boning, 5-1/2-inch utility, 7-inch serrated bread, and 7-inch Santoku knife. The set also includes 8-inch chef’s, 8-inch slicer, and 8 4-1/2-inch forged steak knives; shears; and block with sharpener.
The material used for each knife is high-carbon stainless-steel, making it last for a long time. Some people complain that the handles are too thick, but this is really a matter of taste. If you prefer thick handles, you’ve got the perfect set of knives here but if you prefer the thin ones, you can always go with Shun although those cost much more.
Also, the knives can’t be washed in the dishwasher. They have to be washed by hands for proper care. Although paper-thin slices are achievable with these knives, they need a couple of swipes through the built-in knife sharpener (which I absolutely love, by the way).
TIP: Make sure you look at all of the various kitchen knives and read user feedback. The bestsellers are a great place to start looking. This utility knife is ONE bestseller. But if you’d rather see a whole list click here instead
Are these professional knives? I wouldn’t say that. Don’t get me wrong, these are absolutely great knives but they’re not the use-for-restaurant type. They’re great for a home kitchen though, plus they don’t cost as much as the other great knife sets you see in the market.
Do I recommend these? Yes if you’re looking for a set you can use at home. Would I buy them again? Yes, in a heartbeat.
Let’s take a peek on the kitchen knife reviews to know its pros and cons
Pros:
No rust problem
Very sharp
Thick handles
The blades and handles are perfectly match
Cons:
Steak knives should be serrated. The steak knives in this set are basically long paring knives
It will rust when wash with a dishwasher.
Let me show you what the current owner of this product has to say:
Customer review from Duncan Idaho,
I received these knives 4 days ago. I immediately unpackaged and began to use them. They arrived well packaged and in good condition. I have used all but the steak knives on multiple occasions daily. I also read the literature accompanying the knives as well. This way I would not be surprised by doing something ignorant to the knives and ruining them. I have washed them by hand immediately after use and then dried them. I store them in the block for now, which by the way is a superior knife block.
Ok, the knives are great. They are a steal for this price. They cut well and feel wonderful in your hand. They are forged. As such their appearance is as that of a forged piece of high quality cutlery. These knives look wonderful. They were sharp out of the box and I have not had to sharpen them yet. I have used them on vegetables, meat, fruit, and all sorts of items while preparing meals. I look forward to preparing meals with this set. I actually try to make meals that require me to use them because they are truly that wonderful to use. This is definitely a high quality set of cutlery. I inspected and used some German cutlery and can say that these knives definitely hold their own against a set of German cutlery costing 300-500 dollars. If you are searching for a high quality set of cutlery and you are not wanting to spend 300 to 500 dollars to get them, these are a great set to choose.

Customer review from JM “Cowboy”,
My wife wanted a Santoku knife and after some research, decided on the MAC Santoku knife. Well balanced, light weight (compared to our Henckels series set), and so VERY sharp. It feels like I am using a razor. Slicing through tomatos, chicken, fruits, and the like are EFFORTLESS.

Customer review from Florence Wong,
This 5″ Utility knife is as outstanding and satisfying as any other Shun Ken Onion knife. I have no doubt that I will use it frequently for a lifetime. Prior to purchase, I was looking for an excellent knife that was slightly longer than my Wustof 3.5″ paring knife and was more multi-purpose for small-to-medium size slicing and chopping jobs. Paring knives are appropriate for small slices, but does not facilitate fine dicing jobs. This is because the handle of paring knives are inline with the blade so that finger joints hit the cutting board when the knife is rocked on the down-stroke. (Such a motion might be useful for dicing a small jalapeno pepper.)
